FlowFlex Covid-19 Test

EXPIRY DATE: OCTOBER 2025

COVID-19 is a highly infectious respiratory disease spreading rapidly throughout the world. It is air communicable and spreads when an uninfected person is close to an infected person. According to medical research, the incubation period of this disease is between 1-14 days, with most symptomatic people showing symptoms at around 3 to 7 days.

The common symptoms of COVID-19 are a dry cough, fever, loss of taste and smell, and general fatigue. Unfortunately, while some patients show signs, most infected persons show no symptoms and are, therefore, very difficult to manage the spread. Consequently, it is imperative to take a self-test every time one is exposed to the virus to prevent spreading.

FlowFlex rapid lateral flow test kit is a COVID-19 test kit built and approved for self-testing at home. It features a patented advanced technology that detects the existing strains of COVID-19 and new strains resulting from mutation.

The test is currently supplied to The UK, German, Austrian, French and Spanish Governments, all UK airports, major airlines, pharmaceutical companies, corporates and distribution companies.

The FlowFlex® Rapid Lateral Flow Test successfully passed through all evaluation stages at Porton Down Laboratory and is clinically proven for its accuracy in identifying both, symptomatic and asymptomatic cases of Covid 19 as well as, all known variants of the disease. The test has subsequently been validated by Public Health England and carries a CE0123 mark for home use and self testing in the U.K. and EU. It is MHRA registered and also registered with the FDA and WHO pending emergency use approval.

Product Features

This kit incorporates a rapid chromatographic immunoassay technique to detect SARS-CoV-2 antigens on the mucosa wall via a nasal swab. Thus, it gives you fast results in 15 minutes. The test has a 2cm nasal swab and is non-invasive. It does not require a medical professional to do it. You can conduct the test in the comfort of your home for yourself or your kids. The ability to deliver fast and accurate results make this kit suitable for testing large groups of people in workplaces, educational institutions, health facilities, commercial spaces, and transport facilities.

This FlowFlex product has undergone several tests and evaluations at the Porton Down Laboratory. It has proven to be accurate in detecting all strains of the COVID-19 virus in asymptomatic and symptomatic stages. The FlowFlex test has proven to be 99.3% accurate through many experiments conducted in various countries, with a sensitivity of 97.1%.

This test kit is recognized by the UK government through Public Health England and is fully approved for use in home tests in the UK and EU. It is also MHRA & CE, and ISO certified and is pending approval by WHO and FDA for emergency use. FlowFlex rapid lateral flow test is trusted by established companies worldwide and is currently supplied to the Austrian, French, German, and Spanish governments. In addition, this test is used by major pharmaceutical companies, distribution companies, airports, and airlines in the UK.

Differences Between Standard Test Kits and FlowFlex Test Kits

Standard test kits are made specifically for health care professionals and feature an invasive 9-10cm swab that goes into the rear of the nasal canal. FlowFlex test kit, on the other hand, features a piece of equipment approved for self-home tests and a swab that only goes 2.5cm into the nostril; therefore, you can easily carry out the test at home without the help of a medical professional. It is less invasive and makes an ideal choice for use in children.

Unlike other tests using the less sensitive colloidal technique, it features an advanced sensitivity enhancement technology that gives a sensitivity of about 97.1% and an accuracy of 99.3%. Additionally, this kit can detect COVID-19 antigens across different samples. Also, this kit is an actual nasal test and has undergone rapid clinical trials and evaluations that have confirmed it as an accurate and practical nasal swab test. This kit can be an excellent alternative for the Hughes COVID-19 test or the Healgen rapid test, providing results using nasal swabs.

FlowFlex Testing Process

FlowFlex testing process involves four simple, non-invasive steps that make it safe to conduct on your own at home. You do not need a laboratory technician to interpret the test results for you, as they are pretty straightforward. The test kit uses nasal swab technology to detect the presence of COVID-related antigens on the mucosa wall.

STEP 1

The first step is to unpack the nasal swab and carefully use it to collect a test sample from the mucosa wall by gently rotating it around the nostril.

STEP 2

The next step is to insert the test sample into a 2ml lysis solution in the buffered tube. Stir the swab in the solution while pressing it to the bottom of the tube.

STEP 3

Next, unpack the test cassettes, stir the solution, and drip 3-4 drops of the solution.

STEP 4

Carefully place the test card in a safe place and wait 15 minutes for the results.

Results Interpretation

FlowFlex testing takes 15 minutes, and you will have your results by then. Like any other self-testing kit, the results for these home test kits are easy to interpret; ideally, if you read the instructions, you will get it. The results are presented in the form of red lines.

FlowFlex COVID-19 Test Negative Result

NEGATIVE

A red line on the C-line and no line at the T-line indicate that the result is negative.

FlowFlex COVID-19 Test Positive Result

POSITIVE

Red lines on both the C-line and T-line show the test result is positive.

FlowFlex COVID-19 Test Invalid Result

INVALID

A test is regarded as invalid if there is no line or only one red line on the T-line.

How Does a Lateral Flow Test Work?

The Flowflex COVID test is a housed cassette that consists of:

trick-mark-iconConjugate pad

trick-mark-iconNitrocellulose membrane

trick-mark-iconColoured labels or latex nanoparticles

trick-mark-iconAntibodies

First off, the nasal swab is mixed in with the buffer to create the sample. The test sample is introduced to the conjugate pad, where it is filtered and absorbed to control the flow of the sample in the test kit.

Then, the sample flows into the part of the pad which houses the coloured labels and antibodies. If the target analyte is present, the labels, and antibodies will latch on to the analyte and the test line (T-Line) will produce a strip of colour.

Depending on the amount of target analyte present, the T-line will appear darker or lighter. If there are no analytes present, then a line will not emerge. A waiting time of about 15 minutes is needed to see the results on this part of the strip.

After that, the sample flows further into the pad and reaches the nitrocellulose membrane, which contains binding agents. Once the sample reaches this section, the binding agents will bond with it and create a coloured strip on the control line (C-Line). This indicates that the test strip has been used properly, and every component is in good working order.

It commonly takes about 15 minutes for a full flow test procedure to be finished. After enough time has elapsed, take a look at the test cassette to see the results.

trick-mark-iconTwo lines, a line on both the test line (T-Line) and control line (C-Line), indicate a POSITIVE result.

trick-mark-iconIf only one line appears at the C-Line, then the result is NEGATIVE.

trick-mark-iconIf only one line appears at the T-Line, then the test is considered INVALID. A new test is needed to be performed to determine the correct result.

How Accurate Are Flowflex Lateral Flow Tests?

Accurate detection is of utmost importance for early intervention. Our Flowflex rapid test kit has been proven effective and is at 98.9% accuracy. This is based on a clinical study conducted last March 2021 to May 2021.

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has given its approval to our test kits. The FDA is also confident in its accuracy that only one test is needed in a kit, unlike in other brands of test kits.

To achieve the best results, the test should be administered during the first week of experiencing symptoms.

The Flowflex antigen test will produce a coloured strip along the test line (T-Line) when the sample is positive for COVID-19. It does not matter whether the line is strong or rather faint. As long as a line is present there, then the individual is a carrier of COVID-19 antigens.

A false-negative or false-positive result may sometimes occur. However, chances are quite slim. A retest may be performed after a few days to ensure accurate results. Once the test cassette shows a positive result, please practice social distancing and immediately reach out to your healthcare provider for assistance.

What Is a Lateral Flow Immunoassay?

A lateral flow immunoassay is a simple device used to detect the presence or absence of an analyte. Common target analytes include pathogens, contaminants, and biomarkers. The popular lateral flow immunoassay most people are familiar with is the rapid pregnancy test.

Another type of lateral flow rapid test is the Flowflex antigen test. It is used to diagnose the presence of COVID-19 antigens or pathogens.

frequently asked questions

Should a person continue lateral flow testing after they’ve received the COVID-19 vaccine?

No, a test is not needed for vaccinated individuals. Only those who have symptoms are required to be tested.

Can a Flowflex lateral flow test show if the person has previously had COVID-19?

No, the Flowflex COVID test cannot tell if a person has been infected in the past. Molecular tests (a.k.a. PCR tests) are needed for this.
