At present, rapid COVID-19 antigen testing is being rolled out on a wide scale by the UK Government to aid the mass-testing effort. The Healgen Covid-19 Antigen Test has been Evaluated and Validated by the UK’s MHRA/DHSC: 1 of only 3 tests approved for use by schools, hospitals, and the army. The Healgen Antigen test kit is also used by the NHS in the UK.

The Healgen COVID-19 Rapid Antigen test is intended for the quick detection of COVID-19 antigens. This lateral flow covid test is only meant for use by medical professionals such as nurses and doctors. Healgen Covid-19 Antigen Test is one of only three UK Government assessed Rapid Antigen Tests.

The Healgen COVID-19 Antigen Test has been evaluated with specimens obtained from patients and the results show it has a high overall relative accuracy.

COVID-19 is an acute respiratory infectious disease that has killed over 123,000 people in the UK and infected 4.18milion others.

Coronavirus cases are still spreading rapidly, particularly among asymptomatic people. According to the NHS, around one in every three people are asymptomatic, meaning that they have Coronavirus but do not display any symptoms.
Health Secretary Matt Hancock believes that stepping up Covid 19 testing will ‘help break the chain of infections’.
To this end, the government is encouraging everyone who is eligible to order a lateral flow COVID 19 test kit. You can also take a private COVID test if you suspect that you have the virus. According to the World Health Organization, COVID-19’s incubation period is 5-6 days on average, but this can go up to 14 days. Studies show that the virus is most infectious within three days of showing symptoms. The main symptoms of the disease include a new or continuous dry cough, a loss of taste or smell, fatigue, and a temperature or fever. During the acute phase of the COVID-19 infection, antigens are generally detectable in the upper respiratory tract in the nose and throat. Rapid diagnoses of COVID-19 will help healthcare professionals treat patients, control the virus, more importantly, save lives. The Healgen COVID-19 Test is used to diagnose SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. It detects the presence of Coronavirus proteins in a sample drawn from the surface of the posterior nasopharynx and gives results in as little as 15 minutes. This test requires health expertise to carry out and interpret results, you cannot buy a COVID 19 test kit and do it in the privacy of your home.

Qualitative, visual results can be
obtained in as little as 15 minutes.

No extra equipment or

sample well. Get the results in 15 mins.

When used according to the included instructions, the testing kit will produce one of three results:

POSITIVE: The presence of two lines at control line (C) and test line (T) indicates a positive COVID-19
test result (even if one of the lines is faint).

NEGATIVE: The presence of only the control line (C) indicates a negative COVID-19 test result.

INVALID: If there is no control line (C) after performing the test, the result is invalid

Instructions

test procedure & Interpretation

1. Collect the Specimen

STEP 1

Use the nasopharyngeal (NP)
swab supplied in the kit.

STEP 2

Carefully insert the NP swab into the
nostril of the patient until you reach
the surface of the posterior nasopharynx.

STEP 3

Gently swab over the surface
of the posterior nasopharynx.

STEP 4

Rotate the swab several times
before withdrawing it from
the nasal cavity.

2. Prepare the Sample

STEP 1

Insert the test extraction tube
into the workstation firmly
so that it stands up.

STEP 2

Add 0.3 mL (10 drops) of the
sample extraction buffer into
the extraction tube.

STEP 3

Insert the swab into the
extraction tube and roll the swab
at least 6 times.

STEP 4

While rolling the swab,
press the head against the
bottom and side of the tube.

STEP 8

Remove the swab.

STEP 7

Tightly fit the dropper
tip on top of the
extraction tube.

STEP 6

Squeeze the tube several times
from the outside to fully
immerse the swab.

STEP 5

Leave the swab inside
the extraction tube
for one minute.

3. Interpret Your Results

trick-mark-iconSTEP 1: Remove the test device from the sealed pouch and set it down.

trick-mark-iconSTEP 2: Ensure the nozzle is tightly fitted to the extraction tube.

trick-mark-iconSTEP 3: Reverse the extraction tube and add four drops of the test sample by
squeezing the extraction tube into the sample window.

trick-mark-iconSTEP 4: Wait for coloured bands to appear (up to 15 minutes).

trick-mark-iconSTEP 5: Interpret the results immediately—do not delay this.

POSITIVE: Two lines at control line (C) and test line (T) indicates a positive result.

NEGATIVE: The presence of only the control line (C) indicated a negative test result.

INVALID:If the control line (C) is not visible, the result is invalid. This can be caused by a deteriorated test or a failure to follow instructions properly. If you get an invalid result, you should repeat the test.d

NOTE: It does not matter how faint or intense the coloured lines are. Any shade of colour in the test line (T) should be interpreted as a positive test, even if it’s barely visible.

FAQs

Healgen Lateral FLow Test Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is antigen testing?

Antigen tests are used to detect proteins specific to a virus that appear in infected individuals. If a patient has antigens detected in a sample, it means a viral infection is present. Rapid lateral flow antigen testing is therefore beneficial because it gives a quick diagnosis.

What is a lateral flow test?

A lateral flow test works by taking a sample from the nose or back of the throat via a swab. This swab is then tested for the presence of antigens. Lateral flow is simply the technology used in the test and is also used in pregnancy tests.

How quickly does a lateral flow test produce results?

A lateral flow test like a Healgen rapid antigen test can provide a visual result in just 15 minutes. This allows quick identification of positive cases so that people can self-isolate sooner and reduce the risk of transmission. Any positive lateral flow test should be confirmed by a government-approved PCR test, and this can be arranged by calling NHS 119.

What’s the difference between an antibody and antigen test

A lateral flow antigen test can be used to determine an active case of COVID-19 while an antibody test is used to determine whether you have PREVIOUSLY had COVID-19. They are two completely different tests designed for two completely different purposes.

Do I need any extra equipment?

No—your Healgen lateral flow test kit comes with everything that you need to carry out your test, and clear instructions are supplied on how to perform the test and interpret its results. Although no specialist knowledge is needed and the UK government has approved lateral flow tests for public use, it’s always recommended that they’re carried out by trained healthcare professionals.

Do lateral flow tests expire?

Yes. Healgen lateral flow antigen tests have a shelf life of 24 months from the date of manufacture. They should not be used after this period because the results may not be accurate.

Can I delay certain parts of the test?

No, you should always carry out the full test at a single point in time. This means you should test your specimen immediately after it is collected and no longer than one hour. Results should be interpreted immediately, too.

How can I store my lateral flow test?

An unopened test kit can be stored at room temperature or refrigerated between 2-30 degrees Celsius. You should never freeze your lateral flow antigen test kit. Always allow the test kit to reach room temperature before you use it.

How do I dispose of a used lateral flow test kit?

A lateral flow test can be bagged up and disposed of along with your regular household waste.
