Covid Test Kits

Without a doubt, Coronavirus and the national lockdown has negatively affected all business across the UK.

COVID testing kits across the UK can take considerable time to come back with a result. A positive result a week after a test can severely affect your entire workforce.

Most COVID-19 home examination kits are ordered from the NHS or gov.UK website, however, these home tests can take days to arrive due to the number of people ordering them. You then receive your results through text or email within 72 hours or three to five working days.

The speed of collection and results for COVID-19 home tests are simply too slow for businesses, workers, and those simply wanting peace of mind.

Luckily, the Healgen rapid COVID 19 Antigen rapid test can provide results with high overall relative accuracy in just 15 minutes -it’s just as easy to use as the NHS or gov.UK test kit. And, we offer next day delivery!

How does the home test work?

The Healgen COVID-19 rapid test Kit swab home test kit is easy to use and provides a high overall relative accuracy in just 15 minutes if done correctly.

It was designed for use by clinical professionals, however, as of December 23rd 2020, the Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency approved “exceptional use” of the COVID-19 testing kit by members of the public in domestic settings.

Each test kit contains twenty test cassettes, twenty sterile swabs, twenty extraction (test) tubes and dropper tips, one workstation, two buffers and an instruction manual.

Instructions

  1. 1. First, put the test tube into the workstation, ensuring it is sturdy and reaches the bottom of the workstation.
  2. 2. Add 10 drops from the buffer into the test tube.
  3. 3. Insert one of the included swabs into the subject’s nose until you cannot put it in any further.
  4. 4. Rotate the swab several times to ensure you get good coverage.
  5. 5. Remove the swab from the subject’s nose and place it into the test tube with the 10 drops of buffer in.
  6. 6. Press the head of the test tube against the head and sides of the swab at least 6 times whilst rotating it.
  7. 7. Leave the swab in the test tube for one minute.
  8. 8. After 1 minute has elapsed, squeeze the tip of the test tube as you remove the swab.
  9. 9. Get one of the dropper tips from your kit and put it into the top of the test tube.
  10. 10. Then open one of the twenty test cassettes.
  11. 11. Place it on a flat, dry surface with the ‘S’ facing towards you.
  12. 12. Apply 4 drops from the test tube into the ‘S’ well.
  13. 13. Wait 15 minutes and read the result on the cassette. Do not wait longer or interpret the results after twenty minutes.

Interpreting the results

Two lines (no matter the boldness), one at the ‘C’ and ‘T’ section of the cassette indicates a positive result. You should self-quarantine immediately and inform anyone you have been in close contact with to get a test and quarantine also.

One line (no matter the boldness) at the ‘C’ section of the cassette indicates a negative result.

If there is no line at the ‘C’ section of the cassette then the test is invalid and will have to be performed again with a new test tube, swab, buffer and cassette. Make sure you read the instructions carefully and follow them along as you perform the test.

How does the NHS Covid 19 test work?

Just like the Healgen antigen test, NHS COVID-19 home tests as well as the testing process are simple. You don’t have to be a healthcare professional to be able to get accurate test results.

Anyone can do it, and pretty much anyone can get a test if they have symptoms or have been in close contact with someone who has Coronavirus symptoms.

The NHS home test kits require you to place the swab into the back of your throat for 15 seconds then into the back of your nose for 15 seconds.

Once this is done you place the swab into the provided test tube, seal it up and send it off in the post.

You’ll receive your COVID-19 home test results within three to five working days. In the meantime, you should self isolate.

Look to the NHS website or gov.UK website for more information on requesting a Coronavirus test kit.

Can you get a home test kit for COVID-19?

Home testing kits can be ordered online from the NHS or gov.UK website. Search COVID-19 home NHS test on your search engine and it will be one of the top results.

As of December 23rd 2020, the Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency approved “exceptional use” of other COVID-19 testing kits by members of the public in domestic settings.

Home tests will be sent to you through the post across the UK. Coronavirus test kits are sent off in the post once they are done.

While you wait for the results of your Coronavirus tests, you should self isolate.

You’ll get your results back within 72 hours or three to five working days through text or email.

Alternatively, there are test sites available across the UK. Simply search on Google for Coronavirus test sites near you and an address plus directions will come up.

If you have symptoms or have been near anyone with symptoms, you can go to a local testing site where you will be provided with a swab test kit upfront. Once more, results will be with you in 72 hours or three to five working days.

What type of home test kit is this?

The Healgen Covid-19 Rapid Antigen Test Kit is intended for the quick detection of COVID-19 through antigen testing.

When the included instructions are followed, this rapid COVID-19 antigen test produces results in as little as 15 minutes with high accuracy.

The home tests we offer provide a quick COVID-19 antigen check that is intended to aid in the rapid diagnosis of Coronavirus/COVID-19 infections.

Our test kits are one of only a handful of UK Government-approved COVID-19 antigen test kits.

Each of our COVID-19 antigen test kits contains everything you need to perform up to 20 Coronavirus/COVID-19 tests.

We also offer next day delivery, so your business doesn’t have to suffer from the effects of the Coronavirus.

What will my results tell me?

The results of your swab test for Coronavirus will tell you whether you’re positive or negative. An invalid result can come from your test if it is done incorrectly.

If the test shows that you’re positive, you must self-isolate immediately and inform anyone you have been in close contact with.

These people should self-isolate and if they start to show symptoms they should look to the NHS or gov.UK website for advice and information on getting a test kit at home.

If you’re negative then you should stay away from anyone who is showing symptoms and should stay in your home unless it’s absolutely necessary for you to leave.

When done incorrectly, your test will display an invalid result. This means you will have to do the test again. Make sure you follow the included instructions in order to not get an invalid or inaccurate result.

What are the symptoms of COVID-19?

COVID-19 is an acute respiratory infectious disease.

People with Coronavirus/COVID-19 can experience any of the following symptoms:

  • A new or continuous dry cough
  • A loss of taste
  • A loss of smell
  • Fatigue
  • Temperature or fever

Less common symptoms include congestion, aching in your muscles or body, headache, sore throat, chills, feeling or being sick, and diarrhoea.

The following symptoms should be checked upon immediately by a medical professional. If you have any of the following seek medical care as soon as possible:

  • Difficulty breathing
  • Pain in your chest or growing pressure
  • Confusion
  • Unable to stay awake
  • Lips or face turning a bluish colour

Those who are infected can be asymptomatic (not experience any symptoms).

The issue with this comes in the fact that people may not realise they have Coronavirus and may be contributing to the pandemic, spreading the disease around more.

This is why Coronavirus testing is so important. Even if you have no symptoms, if you’ve been in close contact with anyone who has tested positive or has symptoms then you should get a test.

COVID-19’s incubation period is 1 to 14 days, with most Coronavirus infections affecting people within three to seven days.

Reporting results

Workers should not attend their workplace if they test positive or have symptoms. They should seek more advice from their employers or organisation regarding working from home.

You should self-quarantine whilst you await the results of your test. The results, within three to five days, will come through and you can determine where to go from there with the ahead guidance.

If your test result is negative

If you test negative then you can still leave the house if you must do so for work or daily exercise. Unless otherwise instructed by your local government.

You should still wear a mask, wash your hands and keep a safe distance in public as you don’t want to contract the disease and contribute to the spread of it.

If you come into contact with anyone who has tested positive or has symptoms of Coronavirus/COVID-19 then you should get a new test kit to determine whether you have the virus and self-isolate for 14 days.

If your test result is positive

You should immediately self-quarantine and inform work, school or any other responsibilities you have in order to arrange for home-working.

If you have tested positive or have symptoms of Coronavirus/COVID-19 you should inform anybody who you have been in close contact with – this includes the people in your support bubble.

These people should self-quarantine and then use the various Coronavirus testing service options available to determine whether they have Coronavirus/COVID-19 or not. Especially if they have symptoms.

If your Result shows invalid or error

If the result of your test is invalid then something has gone wrong during the testing process.

You will have to undergo another Coronavirus/COVID-19 test to determine whether you are positive or not.

Make sure to follow the included instructions as closely as you possibly can.

Purchase a Covid test kit

The antigens for the COVID-19 infection are detectable in the upper respiratory tract – hence the use of a swab test kit in the back of your throat and nose.

With the Healgen COVID-19 Test kit, rapid diagnoses of Coronavirus/COVID-19 can help healthcare professionals, government services and other companies to control the virus pandemic more in the UK.

A home Coronavirus testing kit can be purchased with next day delivery. Results of the Healgen test kit will present in 15 minutes after you undergo the test.

Covid 19 FAQS

How is COVID-19 Treated?

At the current moment in time, there is no way to treat COVID-19 at home. In the UK, vaccines are being handed out to those who are most vulnerable to the pandemic.

In hospitals, medical treatments focus on relieving symptoms and reducing the effects of the virus whilst your body fights off the infection itself. Eg, breathing support or anti-inflammatory medication to reduce inflammation.

If you’re looking for self-care at home then there are a few things you can do to make your life a little easier.

High temperature

Rest up, relaxing and getting lots of sleep will help your body to fight off the virus

Avoid dehydration, make sure you drink lots of water

If you’re in pain or unbearably uncomfortable then you can take paracetamol or ibuprofen

Cough

It’s best to lie on your side or sit upright, don’t lie on your back

Honey, it’s great for relaxing a strong cough – don’t give honey to babies under 12 months

Breathlessness

Turn the heating down or open a window to keep your room cool, don’t use a fan as it can spread the virus

Sit upright with good back support and make sure to relax your shoulders

Breathe slowly in through your nose and gently out through your mouth.

What are the symptoms?

High temperature

There’s no need to check with a thermometer, however. If you feel hot to the touch on your back or chest then you have one of the symptoms of COVID-19 and should self-quarantine.

Continuous cough

If you find yourself coughing continuously for longer than an hour or having three or more coughing episodes in 24 hours then you have one of the symptoms of COVID-19 and should self-quarantine.

A complete loss of or change to your smell or taste sensations

You may no longer be able to taste or smell anything or things may not smell as they usually do. If this is the case, then you have one of the symptoms of COVID-19 and should self-quarantine.

If you have any of the symptoms, or have been in contact with anyone who has symptoms then you should get a home testing kit to confirm whether you have COVID-19 or not.

Workers should inform their employer if they test positive and a method of working from home should be worked out.

Who’s at increased risk?

COVID-19 is especially dangerous to those who are aged 60+. People with underlying health conditions affecting their immune systems such as lung disease, heart disease, and diabetes are also at a higher risk.

This doesn’t however mean that those who are not over 60 or at increased risk shouldn’t worry about the virus. It is a deadly infection that can affect different people in different ways.

Those who are more at risk are receiving their vaccinations first. It’s hoped that by the end of 2021, most if not all, of the adult population in the UK will be vaccinated.

The best way to avoid contracting and spreading the virus is to wear a mask, wash your hands and keep a safe distance.

How is coronavirus diagnosed?

A PCR test is the primary method of testing currently in determining whether you have COVID-19 or not. PCR stands for Polymerase chain reaction.

A PCR test makes millions of copies of a target piece of DNA which can be amplified in order to identify COVID-19.

During a PCR test, you or a healthcare worker will collect a sample test from the back of your throat and nose.

A PCR swab test may come back inconclusive. If the effect of your symptoms are more severe, the doctors in your hospital department may call for a CT scan in order to help diagnose COVID-19.

What treatments are available?

Those who are most vulnerable in the UK are currently receiving vaccines. It’s anticipated that by the end of 2021 most if not all adults in the UK will have had the vaccine.

Medical treatments for COVID in hospitals currently focus on relieving symptoms and reducing the effects of the disease. Breathing equipment such as ventilators are used to help those who are struggling to catch their breath.

Whilst you may not have a ventilator at home, there are ways to ease some of the difficulties associated with the symptoms of COVID-19.

For a high temperature; rest up, avoid dehydration, take paracetamol or ibuprofen if you’re in pain or are unbearably uncomfortable.

For a cough; lie on your side or have some honey.

For breathlessness; turn the heating down or open a window (don’t use a fan), sit upright and relax your shoulders, breathe in slowly and breathe out gently.

Your symptoms should dissipate within a week or two. If not then it’s a good idea to contact your doctor as you may be experiencing some of the long-term effects that COVID can have.

What are the possible complications from COVID-19?

Most who have suffered from COVID-19 and got caught up in the pandemic have not experienced severe symptoms.

However, those who are more at risk can experience medical complications that can lead to death.

The world has suffered over two million deaths from COVID with over 100 million cases being reported. The pandemic is real, and it’s serious. People have to understand the complications that can come from having COVID-19.

These complications include:

  • Pneumonia
  • Heart problems
  • Blood clots
  • (Multiple) Organ failure
  • Viral and bacterial infections
  • Acute respiratory distress syndrome
  • Acute kidney injury

COVID-19 is a dangerous virus, no matter who you are or how at-risk you are. Follow the government guidelines, they’re in place for a reason.

Wear a mask, wash your hands and keep a safe distance to protect those around you and yourself.

How can you prevent Coronavirus?

Wear a mask. Wash your hands. Keep a safe distance.

It’s as simple as that. The pandemic continues to spread as people ignore the guidelines which are being issued by the government. This is leading to more and more deaths, adding to the stress on workers of the NHS in England.

The guidelines are there for a reason; to help everyone in getting through the pandemic as soon as possible.

If you have any of the symptoms of COVID-19 you should inform anyone who you have been in close contact with and get a COVID-19 home testing kit as soon as possible.

How accurate are coronavirus home tests?

The NHS home tests are tested in the same way that any other sample is. Therefore, if you do the swab test correctly then your results will be accurate.

The Healgen rapid COVID-19 antigen test provides a high accuracy result in 15 minutes if done correctly. It is designed for use by clinical professionals.

All you have to do is follow the instructions and use it the same way as any other swab test and you’ll get an accurate result.

What other ways can I assess if I have COVID-19?

If you have symptoms of COVID, have been in close contact with someone who has been confirmed to have COVID, or have performed or attended activities that put you at higher risk then you should self-quarantine.

Testing for current infection is done through viral tests which check a sample from your nose and mouth (saliva) to find out if you are currently infected.

You can test for a past infection through antibody testing.

An antibody test aims to find antibodies in your blood. Antibodies are made by your immune system following an infection or vaccination.

If you think you may have COVID, it’s best to get tested. Infecting those around you at work or home will endanger them and only increase the spread of the pandemic.

Is Coronavirus testing covered by insurance?

This is dependent on your health insurance company.

Some offer on-demand tests at no cost, where others offer the same at a cost. Alternatively, others provide no coverage at all for COVID-19.

As COVID-19 is a public health emergency, most insurance companies leave diagnosis and treatment up to the government and the NHS.

Meaning that both testing and screening are unlikely to be covered by your health insurance policy unless you have it done privately.

However, as it’s a public health emergency, it’s not likely that you will find any private facilities to do testing and screening for COVID-19.

It’s best to check your insurer’s website or give them a call to determine exactly what coverage you have and what it will cover in this pandemic.

Who should get tested for Coronavirus?

If you have any of the symptoms of COVID-19 then you should get tested.

If you have been in close contact with any person who has symptoms or has been confirmed to have the virus, you should get tested.

If you have recently been to a crowded or enclosed event then you should get tested immediately.

Further, you should self-quarantine if any of the above apply to you.

The symptoms of COVID-19 are as follows:

High temperature; if you’re hot to the touch on your back or chest.

Continuous cough; if you find yourself coughing continuously for longer than an hour or having three-plus coughing episodes in 24 hours.

A complete loss of or change to your smell or taste sensations; you may no longer be able to taste or smell anything.
